Chinese Tibetan gilt bronze Buddha deity figure of Hayagriva, meditational deity or known as a horse-head buddha. All six outstretched hands give the dharma chakra mudra which forms the mystic circle by connecting the middle two fingers with the thumb representing the wheel of the dharma in motion, and teaching. Adorned with crowns of bleached skulls, bone earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and anklets, he wears a long garland of freshly severed heads, a lower garment of tiger skin and a blue cloth tied with a dark blue sash. Standing on eight legs, four splayed to each side, atop the eight great nagas (snakes) of various colors, a sun disc and multi-colored lotus blossom he is surrounded by the all-encompassing flames of pristine awareness. Bronze is in beautiful condition with minimal marring of the surface. Underside with incised quatrefoil flori-form petal visvavajra mark surrounding the centralized DaiJi. Extensive trace of gilt remain on surface.Height:9.38 in in
