Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Tongzhi ruby red monochrome pear vase. The porcelain potted in Chinese traditional YuHuChun shape vessel, the pear shaped bottle vase, a bottom-heavy body tapered gracefully to slender waisted neck flaring at the open lip, supported on short foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered masterfully covered an even coat of a ruby red glaze which terminates at the base to reveal the pure white underglaze. The Lang yao Hong and its red monochrome variations appears to have been attempts directed at recreating the lost formula of the Ming dynasty Xuande period (1426-35) monochrome red. The different outcomes are known under many different names depending of it characteristics. Qing dynasty thick and vitreous deep bright red glaze, often featuring crackle or thick drops around the foot, turning red due to its copper content when fired in a reducing atmosphere. While very successful in itself. an almost perfect version of the Jihong was created as the Sacrificial red of the Qianlong period. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman.
