款识：乙卯夏六月书于话雨山房云樵邓渭 邓渭：字得璜享年五十九岁。竹刻家邓孚嘉之子，自幼师承家学，擅长刻竹和治印。竹刻工薄地阳文，又善刻行楷，字迹秀丽，为乾隆朝嘉定竹器刻字第一高手。所镌笔筒拓本为《清仪阁所藏古器物文》中收入。笔筒竹制，纹饰以苏轼《后赤壁赋》为题，刻苏子与客游于赤壁之下，「江流有声，断岸千尺」之景。造型极为写实，若东坡之雍容，鲁直之儒雅，佛印之诙谐无不刻画如生。至于苍松之遒劲，山石之磊落，皆十分生动。雕法上综合使用深浅浮雕与镂雕，构图饱满，层次丰富。用刀雄健精炼，气势阔大凝重。笔筒背面阴刻行书「赤壁赋」诗文并落款「乙卯夏六月书于话雨山房云樵邓渭」，笔法老辣精道。此器样式为清初嘉定竹刻代表风格之一，具有较高的艺术水平。
