AN ISLAMIC CURTAIN FOR 'DOOR OF REPENTANCE' OF THE KAABA
A special textile was made for the internal door of the Kabaa beginning in the mid-19th century.
It is made of black silk with red green silk appliqués, embroidered in silver and silver gilt wire over cotton and sild thread padding.
Embroiderd to the centre with Ayat Al-Kursi (Arabic: آية الكرسي 'āyat ul-kursi) known as The Throne Verse is the 255th verse of the 2nd surah of the Quran, Al-Baqarah.
Further decorated with quatations of Quran and arabesques amongst foliage.
