Saite Period, 664-525 BC. A substantial glazed composition shabti with tripartite wig, pick and hoe in the hands and seed-bag over the left shoulder, false beard, plain dorsal pillar, nine horizontal bands of hieroglyphic text of chapter six (the shabti chapter) of the Book of the Dead to the lower body. Cf. 30th Dynasty shabti of similar form in Stewart, H.M. Egyptian Shabtis, Princes Risborough, 1995, item 30. 404 grams, 21cm (8 1/4").
