A carved sandstone statue fragment of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva embodying the compassion of all Buddhas, wearing a tight-fitting pleated sampot and draped belt; mounted on a custom-made stand. 13.4 kg total, 75cm with stand (29 1/2"). Property of a Cambridgeshire private collector; formerly from a London private collection formed 1980s.
