1st century AD. A marbled amber glass toilet bottle with squat body and dimpled base, long neck and flared mouth with rolled rim. Cf. Whitehouse, D. Roman Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass, vol.1, New York, 1997 item 207 for type. 67.8 grams, 85mm (3 1/2"). Property of a Brussels collector; formerly in an old German collection formed in the 1990s. The marbling effect replicates banded agate.
