A carved schist statue of Buddha sitting cross-legged, wearing a loose garment hanging in swags from the neck and shoulders, hands placed in the lap, wavy hair with ushnisha, long lobed ears; mounted on a custom-made stand. 16.5 kg, 42.5cm including stand (17 3/4"). Acquired on the London art market before 2000. See Jongeward, D. Buddhist Art of Gandhara in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 2018.
