A bronze plate of a cross enkolpion (reliquary cross with inside bone or clothing fragment of a saint) decorated with concentric dots and having inside the Greek inscription in capital letters ?????? (Michail = Michael) referring to the name of the owner but more probably a claim for the protection of the Archangel Michael in battle, possibly the cross belonged to a soldier. 40.1 grams, 76mm (3"). From an important central London collection formed since the mid 1960s; thence by descent.
