A gold crescent pendant, lunula, with keeled arms and tapering terminals, applied granule cluster decoration to the arms, suspension loop for a central breloque with three applied granules, applied ribbed suspension loop with granule rosette. 5.27 grams, 33mm (1 1/4"). From a home counties collection, formed 1970-1980. A lunar pendant was worn by girls in ancient Rome as an apotropaic amulet to protect them against evil forces. The equivalent pendant for boys was the bulla.
