Cast in the form of the yidam and consort standing in alidhasana on trampled figures, birds and bovine animals, the buffalo-headed yidam portrayed ferocious with bulging eyes and a gaping mouth , surmounted by flaming hair, with thirty-two outstretched arms and a pair wrapped around the consort, all against black ground. It is said that in the form of Yamantaka, Manjushri defeated the demon king Yama, the Lord of Death. Yamantaka symbolize the victory of wisdom over death through direct realization of the ultimate nature of reality.
