FUJITA: A CHERRYWOOD PANEL OF KIKUJIDO Signed Fujita Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) With fine inlays, this panel depicts the Chrysanthemum Boy reading a book while seated on the trunk of a gnarly plum tree, with a pair of flying suzume above and chrysanthemum flowers (kiku) at his feet. Artist signature FUJITA within an inlaid square seal. Note the fine patina and unctuous surface of the cherry (sakura) wood. SIZE 77 x 47 cm Condition: Excellent condition with some old wear, minor natural warping to some inlays and few traces of use. No losses to inlays! Provenance: British collection.
