A CARNELIAN AGATE GROUP OF HEHE ERXIAN, QING China, 18th - 19th century. The fine carving depicts the twins standing in front of a large lotus leaf amid flying bats and a double gourd, the variegating colors of the stone cleverly used by the lapidary to further invigorate the scene. Condition: Excellent condition with minor old wear and some traces of use. Provenance: From a French private estate. Weight: 130 g. Dimensions: Height 7 cm. The small statue can also be worn as a pendant, due to two small holes inconspicuously integrated into the depiction. Auction result comparison: Compare with a related carving at Christies South Kensington on November 11th, 2016, in Chinese Ceramics, Works of Art and Textiles Part II, lot 616.
