A glazed ceramic octagonal dish with central landscape panel surrounded by fan-shaped landscape panels and floral discs; to the underside, a frond to each edge and six 'Chinese' pseudo-characters to the centre; 'Bow porcelain' type with powder-blue ground. 746 grams, 32.5cm (12 3/4"). Property of a Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK collector; acquired on the UK art market. 'Bow' was an English porcelain works formerly located at Bow in East London, catering for the luxury market; production began in 1744, concentrating on decorated porcelains, usually adaptations or copies of Chinese blue and white patterns and the factory ceased production around 1776.
