Late 9th century AD. Two knapped hollow-base black stone arrowheads, one of triangular plain form, the other slender with deeply notched edges. 1.72 grams total, 22-26mm (1"). Ex Dr Ron Bonewitz collection; by inheritance from his father; gifted by teacher in 1920s. Arrowheads such as these would have used to hunt small game and birds, possibly affixed to lightweight reed shafts. [2]
