A PAIR OF ENGLISH PATE-SUR-PATE VASES, MINTONS, STOKE-UPON-TRENT, 1919 oviform, the seafoam-green hard-paste bodies with handles formed as wreaths, with domed covers terminating in pinecone finials, gadrooned necks and sloping shoulders, one depicting a nymph with tambrourine as the allegory of music, the verso a tree-house, the other depicting an oracle, the verso a torch, each atop stepped circular bases, gilt overglaze and impressed factory marks, incised with numerals 76-25 under each base, the first also impressed with date mark, the second incised with numeral 2449; overall height of each: 35 cm (13 3/4 in.)
