Eastman Johnson (1824-1906). Oil on board titled "The Finishing Touch," depicting a woman, possibly the artist's wife, getting ready in a mirror. Signed "EJ" along the lower right. Two early labels along the verso are inscribed with the title. Provenance: Thomas Finger, after 1940; Max and Ruth Friedberg, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Boca Raton, Florida, acquired prior to 1960; Leonard Friedberg, by inheritance from the above, circa 1979; Dr. Louis and Elaine Maruqisee, Boca Raton, Florida, by inheritance from the above, circa 1994; Private collection, Minnesota, by descent from the above.
