LOT 4 Baroque decorative bowl made of serpentine. Late 17th century. L. Seven inches. Mussel shell made of grey, cut serpentine on a narrow, oval stand. A screwed stone crown on the rear part of the bowl, in it a bronze plaque with an engraved mirror monogram under the count's crown. On the reverse, in a brass framed cartouche the coat of arms of the Counts Khuen of Belasy(i) made of coral and mother of pearl. Min besch., erg. Provenance: From old South German private property. The Khuen of Belasy(i) are an old noble family originating from Tyrol, already mentioned in documents near Tramin in 1111. The family is still resident in South Tyrol today, in the 16th century they also settled in Lower Austria and Bohemia and in 1640 they were elevated to the status of imperial counts.
