Extraordinary leather belt with silver buckle and tassel trim of the Tuareg from the north and the Sahara region of Africa, belonging to the Berber people. On the outside there are 14 silver ornamental frieze-like plates sewn on, which may remind one of a row of arcades or prayer fields. Central decor of eight-pointed star medallions. Lined up carnelian beads structure columnarly and fill out the gussets. Polychrome painting on the inside of the belt. Impressive nomadic work, which probably belonged to an important Targi or a high-ranking Targia. Old and used parts in good condition.
