in four chased and gilded volute sabots, slightly edged and curved legs with mascaron knee solutions. Straight surrounding frame, the short sides of the frame with two set drawers, one drawer with three compartments for writing utensils, ink and grit. Protruding circumferential polished and profiled as well as fluted brass edging. Cover plate and frame decorated in boulle technique with backed tortoiseshell and inlaid sawn and chased brass decoration. The centre of the top plate can be raised by means of an internal mechanism to serve as a writing surface and can be used at various angles. The middle cover plate can also be used as a storage surface for documents according to its function and is lockable accordingly. Two keys available. The symmetrical boulle pattern shows on the top plate a stage covered with Lambrequin with three dancing figures, the stage is underpinned by Festons and flanked by balustrated columns. Furthermore, the cartouches on the sides also show individual dancing figures on smaller pedestals with similar Baroque decoration and sawn representations of squirrels, birds and pheasants as well as satyrs, cut into the brass sheet in negative form or lying positively on the tortoise shell and surrounded by dense vines.
