In further mountainous landscape, at the left edge of the picture, Jesus and his disciples. They had moved over the Sea of Galilee into a lonely area, but a huge crowd had followed them to hear Jesus' words. As evening approached, the disciples wanted Jesus to send them away again. The disciples made out a boy who had brought only five loaves of bread and two fish, which they presented to Jesus. Jesus made the people sit down in the grass, said a prayer of thanksgiving and distributed the food to those who sat down. It shows the moment when the little boy, dressed in green clothes, carries the two fishes in a basket, while Christ is already blessing the five loaves in front of him and saying the prayer of thanksgiving. In the middle, partly in back view, two disciples look at each other wondering if there will be enough food for all. At the right edge of the picture, especially highlighted, a small group, among them a seated woman with a child in her arms and a standing old man with a turban. Painting that strictly adheres to the text of the Bible and emphasizes Christ and his disciples through strong colors and the small group at the edge. (1221478) (18)
