Flämischer Meister des 17. Jahrhunderts
Pair of paintings from the life of JOSEPH
Oil on copper.
28,5 x 47,7 cm.
Old explanatory labels on the reverse.
In profiled partially gilded wooden frame.
Masterfully constructed scenic depictions: Once in a landscape sloping to the right the brothers of Joseph at the moment when they throw him into the fountain, once inside a palace complex, which is characterized by elegant exterior architecture to the right. Here Joseph is depicted before the Pharaoh, interpreting his dreams. Interestingly, the first dream, which is about seven fat and seven lean cows, is simplified in a grisaille painting, which is located in the upper left room. (1220568) (13)
