Middle Kingdom, 2050-1652 BC. A carved wooden figure of a striding female, hair to the shoulders, wearing a long tunic-style garment, arms by sides in carrying position, hands held in fists and pierced to receive objects, now absent; black, cream and other pigment; one socket to the underside of each foot, possibly to accept pegs if this was a model from a 'procession of offering bearers' funerary diorama; mounted on a custom-made stand. 465 grams total, 32cm including stand (12 1/2"). Property of a Middlesex lady; acquired on the London art market in 2007; formerly in a 1970s private collection.
