Description
Translation provided by Youdao
2nd century AD. A bronze foot pair, in the shape of lion's paws, two leaves above; possibly part of a bronze tripod. Cf. Rolland H., Bronze Antiques de Haute Provence, Paris, 1965, pp 164-167, nn. 372-382. 276 grams total, 81mm each (3 1/4"). From a private Netherlands collection; previously in an old collection since before 1980. These appliques, for comparison with a specimen published by Rolland (1965, n.372) could be the support legs of a tripod. [2]
