Dated 1952 AD. Obv: two gladius swords wrapped in two corn-ears with EUROPA FOEDERATA legend. Rev: large 5 with EUROPINOS legend above and date below within half wreath with 'HM' mintmark below; in perspex case of issue. Bruce, Unusual World Coins, 5th edition, Europa X# 17 (previously KY# 18"). 73 grams including case. . Ex Mr RWM collection. The Europino pattern coinage was struck in Germany in 1952 as a speculative pan-European coinage, one of several post-World War II attempts towards this aim; the present day Euro coinage, introduced 16 December 1995, saw that ambition for a Europe-wide currency finally achieved, with twenty-two counties presently involved.
