明《礼部志稿•卷二十》“皇帝纳后仪”中，纳吉纳征告期礼物列有“首饰一副”。又可称之为头面，此类首饰大致可分为：挑心、分心、顶簪、鬓钗、掩鬓及各式小簪、啄针等。首饰的满鬓插戴，是明清贵族女子的装束特征，而奢华的头面，更为清代贵族女子妆具中的必备。本品即为其中之一，以金累丝镶嵌而成，主体纹样为龙首吐珠，宝珠以红宝镶嵌，颇具巧思。周围花枝缭绕，工艺繁缛而考究。整器保存完好，气质华贵，尤为难得。
