Carved Indian red sandstone figure of Narasimha, Madhya Pradesh, circa 7th century, standing an wearing a long close-fitting dhoti, thick floral garland, sash, foliate armlets, beaded necklace, and crown with festoons. Hi lion;s head with mouth slightly parted, heavy-hidded downcast eyes, small rounded ears, and finely incised fur indicating the mane. 35 ¼” H.
