玛哈嘎拉是梵语，意为“大黑”，尊称为“贡布”，即藏语中“怙主”的意思。玛哈嘎拉是佛教三根本的化身。六臂玛哈嘎拉原是印度教的魔神，观音入其神识，故成佛教之护法，观音之化身。此尊玛哈嘎拉像铜制，外鎏金，一面六臂，三目怒睁，闪舌咧口，狰狞无比，头戴五叶宝冠，怒发上冲，发上涂红彩。身披象皮，最上两手向上抓着象脚，上右边手持一串骷髅像，主臂两手拿嘎巴拉碗和月刀。整像做工到位，为清代乾隆造像佳作。
