A large pair of Chinese blue and white 'Dragon' jardinières, early 19th century, Qing dynasty, the thickly potted sides painted with two ferocious dragons writhing above crested and swirling waves amidst cloud wisps, below a ruyi head border, 40.5cm diameter (2) Provenance: Collection of Professor Jasper Allison Rose (1930-2019), a founding faculty member of the University of California, Santa Cruz, Cowell College in 1965. Professor Jasper Allison Rose received his B.A. and M.A. from King's College, Cambridge, and co-authored the book Camford Observed: An Investigation of the Ancient Universities in the Modern World with John Ziman in 1964.
