A large Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase by Matsumoto Hozan for the Yasuda Company, Meiji period, of ovoid form, one side painted and gilt with a village scene landscape, the other side with bijin and children divided by smaller panels of birds in branches and figures in landscape, all reserved against borders of simulated brocade, dense flowers and mon, iron red and gilt signature seal beneath a gilt Yasuda trademark to base, height 45.5cm (damaged, repaired and some losses).
