Oil on canvas, 15 3/8 x 12 3/8 in. (39.0 x 31.5 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, craquelure, varnish discoloration. N.B. Balthasar van Lemens was born in Antwerp but was active in England. Noted for his historical works, little is known of his portraiture. The intimate feel of the painting at hand suggests a possible self-portrait. Provenance: The estate of George Way.
