Friedrich Hoffstadt (1802-1846), stud. initially law in Erlangen, later in Munich. His professional stations are Ansbach, Frankfurt and Aschaffenburg. His passion, however, was medieval art. His work on the ''Basic Rules of the Gothic Style ...'' was introduced by King Ludwig I as a teaching tool. Large-format, independent works are very rare.
