宗喀巴大师（1357-1419）自幼聪慧非凡，在学问修持等方面都具有极高成就，为藏传佛教格鲁派的创始人，亦被藏族僧俗尊称为“第二佛陀”。此尊头饰短发，面相丰润，眉眼清秀，嘴含笑意，展现出大师以佛法正理开示世人时的慈悲法相。上身内着僧坎，外披袈裟。左手于腹前托有法器，右手于胸前轻捻花茎。两肩置有宝剑和经书，象征大师为文殊菩萨在人世间的化现。下身双膝上覆有袈裟，呈现盘坐姿态。下承三层锦垫，寓意大师尊贵的宗教地位。整像金色亮丽，工艺精巧，于方寸之间将大师的音容笑貌展现地淋漓尽致，堪称清代内地藏传造像的经典之作。
