"From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an Iron Curtain has descended across the Continent." Winston Churchill's moving speech in 1946 at Fulton, Missouri, was a fine example of his ability to fan the flames of passion and patriotism. Following World War II, Churchill was admired the world over, receiving honorary degrees, medals and gifts. He received the Order of Merit, Britain's highest civilian award and was knighted in 1953. Later that year, he won the Nobel Prize for Literature for his many writings, most notably his magnificent six-volume The Second World War (1948-53). Beloved by the American people for his inspiring leadership during the war and for his devotion to the cause of freedom, Churchill was made an honorary citizen of the United States in 1963. His service in Parliament spanned over 60 years and ended with his retirement in 1964. Churchill died on January 24, 1965, at the age of 90. He was given a hero's burial at St. Martin's Churchyard in Oxfordshire, near his birthplace, Blenheim Palace. Image Size: 9.5 x 13.75 in. Overall Size: 14.5 x 18.5 in. Unframed. (B16835) See More
