Of upright form with a slightly recessed lip, one broad side painted with a boy riding a buffalo in a river under the bright sun, with a range of rolling hills in the background, the reverse inscribed with a poem matching the depicted scene, dated wuxu dongri (the winter of 1898), with a Ma Shaoxuan signature and a red seal cartouche.
