λ Dame Lucie Rie (British, Austrian 1902-1995), An early Vienna-Period Vase, 1930's, earthenware, of cylindrical tapering ribbed form with curved and gently inverted rim, thick glaze in tones of lavender, lilac, blue and white with speckled finish, with irregular unglazed areas, the base revealing the terracotta ground, painted 'L.R.G. WIEN', 17.5cm high x 20cm widest point Provenance: Private Collection, from whom acquired by the present owner in the 1990's Condition Report: The surface has some cracks in the glaze so it is difficult to determine surface glaze cracks from other cracks but there are at least four cracks through the body of the vase through to the other side comprising: a vertical hair crack running down from rim of vase approximately 4cm long a reverse 'L' shaped crack about 8cm long running vertically from the rim and then about 8cm long horizontal two other vertical cracks each approximately 3 cm long the base of the vase has a hair crack running through it approximately 10cm long some glaze degradation to the interior base of the vase Condition Report Disclaimer
