A pair of George IV mahogany hall chairs, circa 1830, the shaped back with carved bell flower above the vacant circular recessed cartouche, 'sail' swag and solid sear, on sabre legs, each 82.5cm high, 40.5cm wide, 48cm deep overall A very similar model of the back of this hall chair is illustrated in the Pictorial Dictionary of British 19th Century Furniture Design, page 237, with an illustration taken from Loudon, dated 1833 which itself appears to be the evolution of a design by George Smith shown praecedentibus, and dated 1826
