An early Victorian mahogany and upholstered library armchair, circa 1840, the show frame with carved acanthus to the U-shaped front and on lappet carved legs terminating in caps and castors, with shadow of formerly applied maker's label to underside, 100cm high, 71cm wide, 81cm deep overall A very similar model of armchair is illustrated in the Pictorial Dictionary of British 19th Century Furniture Design, page 148 with an illustration taken from Thomas King, dated 1835.
