款识：“申锡”（器身）说明：清代王公贵胄，八旗子弟，盛行养鸟斗虫，其用具更能显示其身份的高贵。此鸟食罐以乌泥精致而成，器形胎厚适中，口沿起线规整，底足收尖俊挺，颗粒感丰富，鸟食罐制作亦线条俊挺有力。胎土与所见申锡款传世紫砂壶胎土相类，所见申锡款制器无不精雅。罐身嵌一方章“申锡”。申锡（1821-1861），字子眙，清道光至咸丰年间制陶名艺人。清代宜兴壶艺的后起之秀，善用白泥与乌泥，笃志壶艺，善雕刻，制品用泥不拘，精者捏造，巧不可阶，寻常品亦用摸制。壶底常用款“茶熟香温者帝元”。曾和杨彭年，瞿子冶合作创制作品。
