款识：“万泉”（把款）说明：此件西瓜壶将生态与形态巧妙结合，有着雅俗共赏的生命力。以西瓜为造型，形象逼真，充满田园风趣。壶身浑圆优雅，美观大方。嵌入式盖，与壶身融为一体，钮与壶把均为瓜茎造型，并各攀出瓜藤两枝，柔韧多姿，逼真自然。壶流挺劲，作瓜叶包裹，层层叠叠，与器身藤蔓舒朗之状相映成趣。壶把钤“万泉”方形印章。整款壶简化形态，临摹意境，充分利用取舍手法，使得此壶既美观实用又不乏艺术魅力，堪称出神入化，给人无限遐想空间，是一件难得的仿生壶代表作。万泉为清代道光同治年间陶人蒋德林之字，江苏省宜兴蜀山人，生卒不详。光绪《宜兴荆溪县新志》记载，其人“百艺极精，凡茗壶、花盆、杯盘及一切书案陈设器具，设色工致，为一时之冠。”
