款识：“曹”（砚侧）说明：祁阳石质，形制四方，砚面雕太平有象画意，瓶身作砚堂，平口作砚池，瓶颈两侧对置双象耳，砚背正方形开光内浅浮雕海水麒麟纹饰。沿一侧行楷铭文“怀米山房珍藏”落“曹”白印。 曹载奎（1782—1852），字秋舫，怀米山房为其斋名，苏州人，金石、青铜器收藏大家，与阮元（1764—1849）、吴云（1811—1883）等人齐名，著名吉金大器“齐侯中罍”即为其旧藏之一，后归吴云所藏。有《怀米山房藏器目》传世。 附供盒及民国二十九年南京新街口“春记古玩店”收购凭证。
