钧窑是宋代五大名窑之一，其釉色变换丰富，非人力所能及，仅凭窑火天成，得之绚烂之色，此种效果亦称之为窑变。后来江苏宜兴的窑口也仿造出这种窑变釉，所以称宜均釉，宜钧釉盛于明清，有天青、天蓝、芸豆、月白等品种。釉层较厚，开片细密，不甚透明。釉料中含钙、磷,根据颜色要求可分别加入含铁、铜、锰的物质作着色剂,生坯挂釉，1200℃左右高温烧成。宜钧主要在形式上仿钧釉，在制造工艺上与钧釉有较大区别，如钧釉用还原气氛，宜钧则用氧化气氛等。这件宜均釉梅瓶胎体厚重，造型稳重大气，釉色深沉，有一种古朴美感。
