A rectangular ceramic stamp seal with pierced handle, intaglio 'cartouche' with crouching jackal, pair of ostrich feathers above; old collector's label giving provenance as 'Der el Medina, 18. Dyn'. 88 grams, 97mm (3 3/4"). From the van der Molen collection, deceased estate, The Netherlands. Der el Medina is the workmen's village on the west bank at Thebes, who built the Royal tombs.
