Borek Sipek (Bořek Šípek) (1949-2016), a pair of glass ‘Alterego No. 601’ decanters with different coloured stoppers c.1990 Each with everted bubble suffused frilled neck, the tapered form internally decorated with bubbles and applied ‘spikes’, one stopper in pale blue, the other amber 24.6 cm and 24.3 cm high respectively (2) Property from a Private Collection Note: Bořek Šípek (1949-2016) was a renowned postmodern Czech Architect and designer who was born in Prague and established his own design workshop in Amsterdam in 1983. He also began a collaboration with the Italian brand Driade, designing furniture and objects for them. His glass pieces have sometimes been described as Bohemian "neo-baroque". In his homeland he was designated ‘Court architect’ of Prague Castle by the then Czech president Václav Havel, the Castle being his official residence. Slightly larger decanter with blue stopper - one of the 'spikes' has come off and been glued back in place and there are some tiny chips to the stopper.
