"There was a time when Jimmy Carter was cool," mentioned the author during an interview with the Guardian. He recounts Carter's friendships with Hunter S. Thompson, Willie Nelson and Gregg Allman, but also the often overlooked, cultured nature of his White House tenure. The screenprint presented here was published to raise funds for Carter's 1976 presidential campaign. Based on a photograph taken by Andy Warhol just two months before the election for a cover of the New York Times Magazine, it embodies classic Warhol portraiture while fully capturing the pensive determination of the future President.
