Simon Benney | An amethyst and enamel ring, 2002 The circular cabochon amethyst, in a collet setting, to a blue enamel surround, mounted in 18 carat white gold, signed SFSB, London hallmark, ring size L Footnote: Provenance: Previously sold at Bonhams Knightsbridge, London, 2016 as part of the Private Collection of the Benney Family Gerald Benney (1930-2008) was the first British craftsman to hold four Royal Warrants simultaneously. Whilst Benney was most celebrated for his designs in silver, he also produced jewellery and objets in brightly coloured enamels. In 1993, together with his son Simon, also an accomplished goldsmith, Benney opened a shop in Knightsbridge, London. Gerald Benney was awarded a CBE by Her Majesty the Queen in 1995.
