此佩由和田墨玉籽料雕就，玉质尤为细腻油润。作者阴刻为为荷塘一隅，一擎新荷仿若国画泼墨手法为之，深浅不一的阴刻手法颇富笔墨意蕴。另面则抛光油润，大面积留白以展示玉质润美，仅在中间位置阴刻“清水出芙蓉，天然去雕饰”，以点明“新荷”之主题。
