A carved giltwood Solomonic column, in 18th century style, 19th or early 20th century, with Corinthian capital and carved with intertwining fruiting grape vines, on a moulded plinth base, 170cm high, the base 45 x 45cm Provenance: By direct descent from Lady Enid Doreen Scudamore-Stanhope Browne (1899-1985), daughter of The Hon. Evelyn Theodore Scudamore-Stanhope and Julia Dasha Potter . Lady Enid was granddaughter of Henry Edwyn Chandos Scudamore-Stanhope, 9th Earl of Chesterfield and sister to Edward Henry Scudamore-Stanhope, the 12th and last Earl of Chesterfield, born on 9 February 1889. In December 1926 she married, Major Alexander Browne of Callaly Castle, of Northumberland. The family homes included Beningbrough Hall, York and Holme Lacy, Herefordshire.
