Dimensions; 9-1/2" H 17th C. Chinese Qing Dynasty Gilt bronze Bodhisattvas Buddha figure of standing Avalokiteshvara, Guanyin. The All Seeing Lord with Four Hands, the bodhisattva of compassion from the Terma, Revealed Treasure lineage known as the Longchen Nyingtig, of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism as recorded by Jigme Lingpa (1729-1798). (See the Longchen Nyingtig Outline Page). Peaceful appearance, very resplendent, smiling, peaceful and radiant. With four hands the first are folded at the heart, the lower hold a crystal mala and jeweled lotus, two beautiful feet in standing posture, adorned with many attractive silks and jewels, beautified with dark blue hair in tufts some loose. On the crown of the head, the wisdom of all buddhas, is the Lord, source of all refuge gathered as one, in essence the Guru in the aspect of Amitabha, in the manner of the Lord of the Family, seated happily he holds upraised a bead mala and a lotus blossom. Extensive trace of gilt on surface.Underside with incised quatrefoil flora-form petal visvavajra surrounding the centralized DaiJi.
