繼生仁兄雅正。慧生弟荀詞。


荀慧生，名秉超，字慧聲，號留香，藝名白牡丹。河北東光人。中國京劇藝 術家，荀派藝術創始人，出身於梆子班，“四大名旦”之一。吸取梆子旦角藝 術之長，融京劇青衣、花旦、閨花旦、刀馬旦的表演於一爐，兼收京劇小生、 武生等行當的技藝。自幼喜愛繪畫和書法，1925年正式拜師吳昌碩，學習 花卉和書法，畫梅花頗得吳昌碩的神韻。在書畫藝術上，擅長青山綠水、花 卉、書法。歷任荀慧生京劇團團長，中國戲曲家協會藝委會副主任，北京市戲曲研究所所長。
